What paper size ? - if being
printed in-house by office printers or photocopiers it is best
to use A4 size or A size derivatives such A3 or A5. Conventional
printing allows for almost any paper size and for technical documents
A6 size can be used for pocket books.
What type of binding ? -
if being done in house a many options are available for A4 size
documents and loose-leaf ring binders are often the best choice.
With conventional printing, spiral wire binding is often a good
choice for technical documents because it is strong and open pages
lay flat.
How many colours? - black
on white is the cheapest option but the use of two
colours can greatly enhance a document and is
not as expensive as full colour
printing.
What type of paper ? - 90/100
gsm white paper gives a better quality document for a small extra
cost than standard 80gsm paper. For some documents a pastel coloured
paper may be more effective.
How many copies required ?
- with conventional printing it is much cheaper to run off off
a few extra copies than have to re-print at a later date. However,
if being printed in-house by office printers or photocopiers only
print as many as you need; if anything needs amending you will
not have a large number of redundant copies.
