I am
PC 1144 Richard Eglen and I have 18 years service
in the force. I was previously the Neighbourhood officer at Cottingham
and Skidby. Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Danny
Cammack works with me in your Parish. Our beat area includes
the villages shown below. You
will find me to be open and honest with you, and look forward
to meeting and working with the parish councils. I will be objective
regarding issues as they arise but most of all realistic depending
on the resources available. I try to attend Parish council meetings
myself (duty and family commitments permitting) and will prepare
a police report for the council. If
I cannot attend some other officer will try to be there.

Burglaries There has been
the usual seasonal increase in Burglaries across the County where
residents have left doors or windows unlocked allowing easy access
for thieves to enter homes and steal property. Nearly half of all
burglaries happen in this way; the thief does not even have force
entry to the house and is less likely to be disturbed by the householder
or a neighbour.
Advice from PC Richard Beeforth of
the East Riding Safe Communities Team Don’t become
a victim of this type of crime. If your home is insecure it may
only take seconds for the thief to gain entry and steal property.
If you take the following basic crime prevention measures you
can reduce the risk of being targeted by burglars “ When
you leave the house ensure that you lock all doors and windows
and do not leave ladders or garden tools lying around outside
as the thief may use these to gain entry to your home. If you
are inside your home or sat out in a garden or yard, don’t
leave doors or windows that are out of view open or unlocked.
Do not leave valuable property such as wallets, purses, mobile
phones, car and house keys etc near to an external door or window.
A thief will quickly reach in and steal these items and make off
without being seen or disturbed. At a recent attempt burglary
in Leconfield the police believe that the offenders used a fishing
rod to reach through the letter box and tried to steal keys.
